Six Flags America - August, 2004
[we came in late and he was in the middle of answering a question]
...and I wanted to beat Rob and Lex who were younger than me, and pretty much stronger than me but it's, it's not the strength that counts it's what you've got inside and I told myself that day that I was winning. And then we got, as soon as I won, I got to take two people, which I took Amber and Jenna, and we jumped in the helicopter and flew out to a beautiful island and had a great feast. That was my best day. That was my most fun.
[question is asked if Rupert's wife was mad]
[laughs] No, my wife actually understood that I, better than taking a couple of sweaty, hairy, you know, big ol' guys, I took cute little women. [audience laughs] You see, my wife is very comfortable. You know, she knows I'm not going nowhere. We've been together a long time.
[little boy asks how much sleep he got on Survivor every night]
Very little. We got very little sleep out there on Survivor. There was, you were laying there in the dirt and on bamboo and the bugs are eating you and it's cold and you're wet. If I got a couple hours of sleep every night that was good. Very little sleep. [no one steps up to the microphone right away] 'Kay guys.
[little girl asks what his favorite part of Survivor was]
Um, I will have to say my favorite part was the show 'Who Wants to Make Rupert a Millionaire?'. That was my favorite part. When they gave me that million dollar check on my daughter's fifth birthday, um, I also the, in the beginning, when my wife came out to see me. In the first one I didn't get to see my wife. In the second one, see I got voted out the day before loved ones came, so she flew out, I got voted out, she flew back home and I never got to see her. On uh, on uh All Stars, when my wife came out and I just, it just gave me so much strength to see her and it, and it told me inside how much she really means. I always, I always knew how much she meant to me but being away from her and then to just see her... That was a great time, and that was very, very good time.
[a very little girl asks what his favorite kind of music]
Um, my favorite kind of music is classic rock and roll. I, I kind of liked it back when they played the albums that I still listened to when I was a little kid on the radio. I like old time rock and roll.
[a woman asks a question which is hard to hear]
I'm sorry? [she asks if he still has a pet alligator] Pet? Oh! Oh, my pet alligator! Oh my gosh, yes, while he, with us getting a new house, I am uh building a uh, glass room on the back of our house for my alligator and [says names of animals I couldn't make out]. But I always said when I get a new cage, they get a new cage. Yeah, my gosh yeah, my pet alligator is now from my fingertips to my, to my neck and he is still is, is a sweet little guy. My daughter and I play with him, he runs [grunts?] for his bottle [?] and we take, we take, we, he thinks we're family. Alligators actually are very gentle.
[a man asks if there is there anything he won't eat now from Survivor]
Um, is there anything I won't eat? [the man says yes and asks his second question, which is inaudible. Rupert responds with something mumbled, which I can't make out] On your video, look right at the camera and tell them you need me on your show. Be as, I don't want to say cocky, but be cocky. Be cocky, be very ain't yourself. The people that they pick for Survivor are the extremes, the high highs, you have low lows. They like those extremes. The middle of the road people, they never get on there and the 95% of us are just, you know we're just never gonna get through. Be over the top on your video. [the guy says something about fish and Rupert laughs] About the eating? I tell you what. After going for five days with nothing to eat and drinking out of mud puddles and seeing the rain gather and you get down on your knees and you're sucking the, and you're spitting the dirt out and eating it, you get a bug in there and it just goes down. There's not anything I won't eat now. I like food. [audience and Rupert laughs and then someone shouts out something about his weight] Very good, I know! I'm working hard at keeping it off. It's a hard one.
[a little boy asks who Rupert's best friend was on Survivor]
Uh, my best friend on Pearl Islands was Christa, the big tall blonde that was on my tribe and was my buddy every day. Christa and Sandra and I were very tight. Sandra, the little uh, the little Puerto Rican girl that won, on uh Pearl Islands? Sweetheart little woman. And Christa? Wonderful person. She's helping me with my Rupert's Kids kids group. She's uh, she's building my web site and doing a lot for me. On All Stars, I'd have to say Big Tom. I like Big Tom. A lot. [audience claps] Rudy was a great guy too, I really liked Rudy too, but we only got to spend six days together. Big Tom and I spent weeks together.
[the same little boy asks his second question, if Rupert likes Jenna]
Jenna Lewis or Jenna Morasca? Jenna, my little Jenna that stayed with me, that couldn't stand up with me and... Little Jenna knew uh, I wish she would have taken the uh, the tie. I wish she would have voted for Rob. She and I probably would have made it to the final two. Just you know, but when you're young and greed takes over and you're not, you're not really thinking as clear, she couldn't stand up with me. But that's okay, I still like Jenna a lot. We're still buddies.
[a woman asks if Rupert would want to host Survivor]
Oh, host Survivor? You know, I don't know if uh, if Jeff uh Jeff Probst uh I might be in line for his job. I just read in 'Vanity' where he uh, signed a five year deal with Survivor. Because he was going year to year for the last three years. He signed a five year deal to make sure the next ten Survivors are him. Yeah, but I'd love to and I've been talking to a couple of different production companies about making our own show and making me either doing an adventure show and making me the host or doing a different kind of reality show and making me the host. [the woman thanks him] Oh, thank you. [he says something I can't make out about signing her towel?]
[a little boy steps up to the microphone]
Hey buddy. [the little boy talks very quietly] I can't really hear you. Talk into the mic. [the boy repeats his question but mumbles it] Can somebody help me? Hey Michelle? What's his question? [the little boy gets flustered] That's okay, man, that's okay. What's your question? Try to get, if I see whenever, when I go out boating with my daughter or my wife or when I was younger, my mom and dad, they would point stuff out to me. I would be the kid that would jump out of the boat and try to sneak up on it. We, I never went playing with crocodiles because we never went anywhere where there were crocodiles. But I've always played with alligators out in the wild because honestly, they are pretty gentle little things and I, you know, I've, my dad was a geologist and my mom was a botanist and I, I've just been around animals all my life. Animals and, and nature and I, I just kind of like that.
[the lady with Rupert says that ends the question and answer session and the audience claps]
Oh. Urggggh. Thank you guys for coming out. Very cool.
