Here is a list of the contestants that we found interesting from each of the seasons of the show.
Survivor Borneo Contestants (Season 1)
Richard Hatch won the very first Survivor ever, and so many of the strategies that contestants use now can probably be attributed to him. He formed the very first alliance ever, which brought him, Kelly, Rudy, and Sue all the way to the final four as they had planned. Richard played a very smart game and came across as a very intelligent man most of the time. The times that he really bugged us were when he walked around naked even though it obviously bothered some people on his tribe, and how he played up his arrogance as if it were a good character trait. Richard deserved the win, although he tarnished his reputation by returning for All-Stars and acting as a caricature of himself. It was really annoying and unnecessary, in our opinion. He was rightfully voted off early on his tribe, and his behavior in the challenges were totally uncalled for. Nevertheless, we really enjoyed Richard most of the time during the first season and were glad he won. |
Kelly Wiglesworth came in second in the first season. She was part of the alliance with Richard, Sue, and Rudy and although she tried to play both sides of the fence (with the Pagong members), her teammates did not let that go unnoticed. Although they had a right to be a little annoyed, Kelly really did not do anything wrong, as she had every right to do what she thought she had to to stay in the game. Sue's speech (although entertaining) was very embarrassing and unnecessary. If Kelly had been in a later season, no one would have even thought twice about the things that she did to ensure her stay in the game. She was a very strong player in the challenges and probably deserved her second place finish. Kelly was not one of our favorite contestants, but we really didn't mind her too much. The only time she really bugged us was when she wouldn't stop whining about Sean not taking her to the breakfast. |
Rudy Boesch was definitely one of our favorites in this season, as well as in most seasons. Rudy was a retired Navy SEAL and spoke his mind, not matter what it was. He sometimes referred to Rich as "the homosexual" and picked on Jenna, Stacy, and the others without even a second thought. He was very interesting to watch because most of his non-PC comments would never get shown coming from another person. Rudy made it very far in the game and really deserved his high placing finish. He also returned for All-Stars, but luckily did not make a fool out of himself as Richard did. Rudy unfortunately had to make an early exit from the game due to an injury to his ankle, but was very well respected by his tribe and the fans of the show. He seems like a very sweet person under his rough exterior, and a great team player. |
Susan Hawk finished fourth in Borneo, and her "rat and snake" speech probably is one of the most well known Survivor moments in history. And as I mentioned above, although it was entertaining, it was not warranted on Kelly. If she had used it on someone like Rob M. in All-Stars or something, then it would have made more sense. She was really rude to Kelly throughout the second half of the season, and it was actually kind of annoying. Nevertheless, Sue was a very interesting person to watch and her never ending search for Tapioca was fun. She returned on All-Stars as well, but as with Rich, it did not end well. |
Sean Kenniff was a slightly offbeat doctor who made it rather far into the game. (And I'm sure he is a good doctor, but it was very hard to picture him as one based on what we saw on Survivor). He decided early on that he would rather leave with his integrity and morals than to play the game with deceit and backstabbing. His strategy of voting people off alphabetically was interesting to say the least, although he realized it was being used against him when Jenna took an exit on the night he announced that it was her turn in his rotation. Sean seemed like a fun person to be around; he liked to invent things on the island such as the "Super-Pole" fishing rod and a bowling alley. He and Dirk seemed to get along well, although they never had much luck fishing, Super-Pole or not. |
Colleen Haskell was the last remaining member of the Pagong Tribe post-merge. The odds were against her and she really did not have much of a chance against the alliance. Colleen was a very fun person to watch, especially when she was explaining why she was voting out certain people at Tribal Council. She got along well with Greg and Jenna, and did very well at the challenges. She was very funny in her last vote, where she had to choose between Richard and Kelly, and did not really want to vote for either of them. Colleen seemed to probably end up with the most permanent damage, bug bite-wise out of any Survivor ever. |
Gervase Peterson made it as far as he did in the game based on "his charm" (in his words). He really did not do too much of anything on the island, but seemed to squeak by every vote without much problem. He was an interesting enough person and probably made it as far as he could have in the game up against the alliance post-merge. Gervase took his exit in the game with humor, wearing a large target on his shirt that night for he knew it was either going to be he or Colleen going home. He was very funny in the bug eating challenge, and the girls probably took his cow comment way out of context. |
