The Adventures of Sinbad was on for two seasons from 1996 - 1998, but we were only fans of the first season.  It used to be our favorite show (we even had two websites devoted to it), but as the years go on and we get older we find ourselves less and less interested.

The Adventures of Sinbad was an action-adventure show about a sailor named Sinbad and his travels with his crew.  It was on around the same time as Hercules and Xena, but it was never quite as popular.  The main storyline was that Sinbad and his crew were searching for his long lost tutor Dim-Dim, but they had a number of adventures (or misadventures) along the way.  Their main nemesis was a sorceress named Rumina who had a love-hate relationship with Sinbad.  His crew consisted of his older brother Doubar, an inventor named Firouz, sorceress Maeve, and the strong and silent Rongar.

The best part about the show was the chemistry between the characters and the humor.  Sure, a lot of (most of) the dialog was cheesy, but it was part of the charm of the show.  The characters were all pretty good and the actors, for the most part, did the best that they could with the material they had to work with.  The relationship between Sinbad and Maeve was also a large drawing point for us, although nothing ever really came of it.

After watching many other shows after AoS went off the air, we realized that this show was severely lacking in many areas.  The characters, as we mentioned above, had great chemistry, but that was really it.  They didn't have many meaningful scenes together and barely ever talked unless it was about the mission during any particular episode.  None of them really grew throughout the series in any major ways, so they ended up coming across as pretty one dimensional.

The show definitely went wrong in the very first episode of the second season.  The first season had a special charm to it and was very cute.  The second season eliminated all of that and destroyed everything that the audience had come to know and love.  The finale of season 1 left a ton of possible storylines to work with, and none of them were even touched upon once during the second.  The second season felt like a completely different show, and it even ended up dividing what fans the show had.

There are two that come to mind, the kiss between Sinbad and Maeve in "The Village Vanishes" and the end of "Vengeance of Rumina".  When we were watching the show, we thought that Sinbad and Maeve were the cutest couple ever.  We couldn't have been more excited about the moment when they finally kissed (we even cheered) and judging from the fandom when the show was on, it seemed like most of the other fans felt the same way.  The other memorable scene was the battle scene at the end of "Vengeance of Rumina".  From the moment the music started up and Sinbad yelled "Charge!" it was very exciting.

As annoyingly perfect as he was, Sinbad was our favorite character on the show.  He was just so cute and could do anything!  Sometimes it seemed like being nice was the only flaw in his personality, although since he even said that at one point, his flaw may be that he was too cocky!  We just love Zen Gesner!
