Characters Meme #2: Liz
This is a survey/quiz that we found on several LiveJournal communities, and we thought it would be fun to try.  You just have to pick a character for each of the numbers and then answer the questions below based on whichever character(s) corresponds with the number(s) in the question.
Ten Characters I Love

1. Goh (Yellow)
2. Shuichi (Gravitation)
3. Luke (As the World Turns)
4. Noah (As the World Turns)
5. Jason (Power Rangers)
6. Wolfram (Kyo Kara Maoh)
7. Misaki (Junjo Romantica)
8. Florian (Gorgeous Carat)
9. Aeris (Final Fantasy VII)
10. Leela (Futurama)

1. Divide the list up by even and odd. Which group of five would make a better Five Man Band (like a Power Rangers team)? Who would you slot in each position: Leader, Lancer (second-in-command), Big Guy, Smart Guy, The Chick? If you think the team would be improved by swapping one character between the even and odd groups, which ones would you switch?

Group A: Goh, Luke, Jason, Misaki, Aeris
Group B: Shuichi, Noah, Wolfram, Florian, Leela

Group A:
Leader: Goh - out of everyone on this team, I think he'd fit most comfortably in this role
Lancer: Misaki - definitely not the leader, big guy, or smart guy, but he'd make a cute sidekick!
Big Guy: Jason - as the leader on his show, he wasn't the best, but he is the toughest on this team
Smart Guy: Luke - Goh is probably the smartest man on the team, but Luke had to go somewhere
Chick: Aeris - she's the only female on their team

Group B:
Leader: Shuichi - he was the lead in his series and I don't see the others as leader material
Lancer: Florian - he is a good second in his series, and there wasn't anywhere else to place him
Big Guy: Wolfram - he is the most physically able person on the team
Smart Guy: Noah - compared to the other men on this team, I think he's the smartest
Chick: Leela - she's the only female on their team

I think Group A is the better team because their teammates fit the best in the roles, whereas I had a lot of trouble placing the four guys in Group B (mostly because Leela would make the best leader but she had to fill the 'chick' role by default). I think Group A could be improved by maybe switching out Jason for Wolfram, because Jason always needed Tommy to bail him out of rough spots. But then again, Wolfram always needs Yuri or Conrad to bail him out, but I think he's a more effective fighter than Jason.

2. Gender-swap 2 (Shuichi), 8 (Florian) & 10 (Leela). Which character would have the most change in their story arc? Which the least? Would any of these characters have to have a complete personality change to be believable as the opposite sex?
Well, all three of these characters crossdressed at least once in thier own series', so that's pretty funny that they were the ones picked for this question. For the chararter that would have the most change in their story arc, I'd pick Shuichi, because the whole point of his story was that he was a guy fallling in love with another guy. To make him a girl would take away everything that made Gravitation what it was. Would any of these characters have to have a complete personality change to be believable as the other sex? Shuichi - no, Florian - I don't think so, Leela - I don't really think so, but probably moreso than the other two.

3. Compare the matchups of 1 (Goh) & 8 (Florian) and 5 (Jason) & 9 (Aeris). (Ignore canon sexual preferences for the moment.) Which couple would be more compatible? Which couple would be more plausible to people from either principal's home culture?
I'm not sure which couple would be more compatible. I think Goh and Florian would get along because they are both similar to the other's love interest in canon, but I really can't picture them together. Jason has the whole leader thing going on like Cloud, so that might attract Aeris to him, and I'm sure he would like her. Since I have to pick one, I'll go with Goh and Florian because they are both at least from the same medium (manga), whereas Jason is a real person from a show while Aeris is a video game character. I pick Goh and Florian again for the last question, because neither of them have any magical powers or come from an ancient race, they're both just regular people.

4. Your team is 3 (Luke), 4 (Noah) & 9 (Aeris). The mission consists of a social challenge, a mental challenge and a physical challenge. Which team member do you assign to each challenge?
I'd assign Aeris to the social challenge, because she is very likable and outgoing. Luke seems pretty smart and creative, so I'd put him on the mental challenge. That leaves Noah for the physical challenge, which is good because I think he'd do better at that than Aeris and Luke.

5. 7 (Misaki) becomes 1's (Goh) boss for a week in some plausible fashion. How's their working relationship?
As long as Goh doesn't write about the two of them in some erotic fashion, Misaki would get along fine with him. Since he is Goh's type, he might have to deal with a good bit of flirting, but it would end at that as long as he is his boss after Goh hooked up with Taki. I think their working relationship would be okay.

6. 2 (Shuichi) finds him/her/itself inserted into 6's (Wolfram) continuity. As far as anyone other than 2 (Shuichi) or 6 (Wolfram) is concerned, they've always been there. What role would 2 (Shuichi) be presumed to have had in 6's (Wolfram) story, and could they fit in without going wonky?
Shuichi could be someone that Wolfram and everyone met along their journeys. I think he'd fit in nicely and the two of them could compare notes on thier reluctant lovers.

7. 3 (Luke) and 5 (Jason) get three wishes. The catch is that they have to agree on all three wishes before they get the benefits of any of them. What three wishes would they make?
I think that they would wish for peace, since Jason is a Power Ranger and he spent years at a peace conference, and I don't think Luke would object to that. Then they might wish for equality, since that is big on Luke's priority list and Jason would agree that that is imporant. Then with the third wish they could be a little more selfish and wish for personal happiness, because they would deserve it.

8. 1 (Goh) and 2 (Shuichi) are brainwashed by a one-time artifact that works even on people immune to mind control to attack and kill 4 (Noah). They keep their normal personality, skills and competence level, except any Code vs. Killing has been turned off. Can 4 (Noah) survive? How?
I don't think Noah would have much of a chance. Goh is a skilled fighter and Shuichi can do a lot of damage if he needs to. It doesn't help that they are both from manga while Noah is from a soap opera. But if he didn't survive, his evil twin would come back to life or something a few years later, so he'd still be around in one form or another.

9. 6 (Wolfram), 7 (Misaki), 9 (Aeris) & 10 (Leela) must help an orphanage full of small and depressed children have a merry Christmas. Who does what, knowing that at the very least the kids will be expecting a visit from Santa?
This is a great group of people to cheer up an orphanage full of children. Wolfram loves kids and is good with them, Misaki is fun and cares very deeply about others, Aeris is very selfless and giving, and Leela grew up in an orphange and could understand what the kids are going through. I think Wolfram would dress up as Santa, Aeris and Leela would cheer the kids up and get some fun games and activities going, and Misaki would cook a Christmas feast for everyone. I think those kids would have a great holiday!

10. 3 (Luke) and 8 (Florian) are challenged to circumnavigate the Earth in eighty days or less, using only forms of transportation invented before 1900. Can they do it, or will they be fatally distracted by sidequests or their own personality conflicts?
Florian was living at the turn of the century, so he would be used to transportation around that time. I think that they could do it, because they are both pretty easy going people who would work together effectively. Although, Florian cares too deeply about other people for his own good, and might distract them endlessly trying to help every single person they meet like he does in his own series. But as for personality conflicts, there probably wouldn't be any unless Luke always tried to get Florian to come to terms with his sexuality. But then again, that probably wouldn't be a huge deal either because it's only a matter of time before he realizes that he's madly in love with Ray. So yeah, I think they could do it, but there would be other things going on.
