Ocean Girl was a show that was on in the early 90's.  It was on the Disney Channel and had four seasons, but, of course, only three seasons were shown in the USA.  It was a good show, and it's too bad that they don't show it anymore in re-runs.

What was Ocean Girl about?

"Ocean Girl" was a show that was on the Disney channel a couple of years ago.  It had four seasons, but only the first three were shown in the USA.  It was about this girl who was from the "Planet of the Oceans" who came to Earth on a mission to protect the oceans with her father and younger sister Mera.  (And a bunch of other people).  The spaceship crashed and everyone aboard died, except for Neri's family and Kal.  Mera was found by some people and eventually ended up in special school as an orphan.  Neri's father died and Kal wasn't found until the third season.  We really hated Neri and only watched for the Bates family.  They lived on ORCA and eventually met Neri.

What was the best part about the show?

ORCA was the best part.  We liked all the people in the first and second seasons and enjoyed watching Brett and Jason on ORCA.  The first season was better than the second, of course, because they got rid of a bunch of good characters including Commander Lucas and Lee.

What was the worst part about the show?

Neri was by far the worst part.  Her character was so annoying!  Even after three years of knowing Brett and Jason, she never lost that annoying way of talking.  She seemed so possessive of Jason and wouldn't let him or Brett do anything fun without her.  She was extremely rude to Kal and didn't care about Mera very much either.  She also seemed to ditch Charlie after meeting people on ORCA and was way too demanding about the syncronium quest.  She threw a hissy fit when they didn't get a chance to search the day after she found out about the quest.

Where did the show go wrong?

During the third season.  ALL the good kids on ORCA left and were replaced by extremely annoying characters who seemed to fit in their places.  (Froggy was a brain, so in the third season it was Benny.  Zoe was the fun girl, Cass replaced her.  And so on.)  Even Sam left and a new actress played Diane!  (Brett and Jason's mother).  The quest for the syncronium was really boring and way too contrived.  (Did UBRI have to find EVERY piece the same day as Jason and Brett?)  Jason and Brett were so rude to Sally Ann, Lana was unnecessary, and Mera should have stayed away once the show got bad.
