After finally getting a lead on Trudy's murder, Monk heads to New York to track down a man that he was told was connected.  They find that the man is in protective custody and on his deathbed, and the only way to see him is if Monk helps solve a murder that took place in their hotel.  Monk solves the case but when he meets the man connected to Trudy's death, he finds that he was hired to build the bomb.  The real killer is still out there, but Monk is left with one clue to his identity, that he has six fingers on one of his hands.
