Characters
Colonel John "Hannibal" Smith was played by George Peppard. Hannibal was the leader of the A-Team and proved himself to be crazier than Murdock on most occasions. He cared about his men, but when he got on the "jazz", nothing he did could be expected. Even though he was a military fugitive, he continued his passion for acting as B-movie monsters whenever the team had down time. It was quite risky hanging out around movie sets and using his real name, but it was all part of Hannibal's charm. He could plan his way out of any situation, and as Amy Allen said "Hannibal's plans never work right, they just work." |
Lieutenant Templeton "Faceman" Peck was played by Dirk Benedict. He was the team's resident con-man, being able to get anything, anywhere, anytime, and he was quite the ladies man. None of his relationships led anywhere, but he could always be seen conning some unsuspecting woman out of something. He was also the one who gave Hannibal the most grief for his rather interesting plans. He didn't like being put into danger, yet he was usually the one sent in first. Even though he was known for his ability to scam people, the team was able to throw it into his face on most occasions. He was extremely conscious about his looks, so anytime someone said something about his age he had to prove them wrong by doing exactly what they wanted him to do in the first place. He was also the member most susceptible to leaving as could be seen in the fifth season when he was tired of being Stockwell's pawn. He tried to leave quite a number of times, but always came back to his friends in the end. |
Captain H.M. "Howling Mad" Murdock was played by Dwight Schultz. As the only member of the team not wanted by the military, Murdock resided in the psychiatric ward of the VA Hospital. Whenever the team needed backup (pretty much every mission), Face was sent to scam Murdock out of the hospital for a few days. He acted quite crazy most of the time, but it was never clear if he was really in need of psychiatric help or was just faking it (as his psychiatrist believed). Either way, he was an excellent pilot who could fly anything put in front of him, and was a very reliable team member. He was always there to bail them out when they were caught by the military or were in need of his assistance. In the fifth season, he was released from the hospital and went to Virginia with the rest of the team to help them on Stockwell's missions. Even though he was a free man, he stuck with his team waiting for them to get their pardons. |
Sergeant Bosco "Bad Attitude" Baracus was played by Mr. T. B.A. was, surprisingly, the voice of reason on the team. He was always there to tell Murdock to stop acting crazy, Hannibal to get off the jazz, and Face to stop trying to con him. For all of his threats and scowls though, he was quite a gentle giant and was always there for his friends. He usually had to bail them out of a fight when it got out of hand or bring his prized van to their rescue. He was a mechanical genius and could make anything Hannibal desired, be it a homing device for Face to swallow against his will or an armor plated car. B.A. had some quirks that the team had to overcome to continue with their missions as well. He was terrified of flying, and they were terrified of what he would do to them if they forced him onto a plane. They usually resorted to drugging his milk or whacking him on the head with a board. He always got mad at them when he realized what happened and promised harm, but he never really hurt them. |
