Stanley Richmond grew up on a farm in Jericho, Kansas. He was going to go to college on a football scholarship, but had to stay in Jericho after a car accident took the lives of both of his parents. He was left alone to raise his four year old sister Bonnie, and to take over the family farm. While he could have let the grief over losing his parents take him over, Stanley knew that Bonnie needed him, so he soldiered on. Stanley was a great guy and everyone in Jericho loved him and his sunny disposition, but he was not a shrewd businessman - which is where Mimi came into the picture.
Mimi Clark was an IRS agent from Washington D.C. sent to Jericho to audit the Richmond farm. Stanley owed the government over $180,000, and Mimi was there to deliver the bad news. Mimi was an upper class city girl, and when the bombs went off all over the country leaving her stranded in Jericho, she had a hard time coping. She spent most of her time in Bailey's tavern drinking her troubles away and letting Stanley know just what she thought of his town (not very good things).
Stanley and Mimi formed a bond pretty quickly, though both of them hid their attraction for the other behind bickering and insults. When the hotel Mimi was staying at closed, she told Stanley that if he let her stay at his farm, then she would deduct her room and board expenses from his tax debt. He agreed to let her stay as long as she helped with the chores, and while she was not too excited about that, she agreed to his terms. Bonnie did not like Mimi one bit and thought her brother was an idiot for letting her stay with them. Stanley was a gentleman though, and didn't want to leave Mimi out in the cold, especially after he discovered that D.C. was destroyed in the attacks. Everything and everyone that Mimi knew was gone forever, and Stanley tried to make her feel as welcome in his world as he could.
After the town received aid from China and Stanley got beat up trying to protect the generator that landed on his property, Mimi tried to take care of him. She did not know much about being gentle or caring for someone else, but she wanted to try. It was around Thanksgiving time, and Stanley got her talking about her family and old traditions. This was when they finally both gave into their growing feelings for one another. The only problem was that Bonnie happened to walk in on them sleeping together and was not too happy with her brother. However, Stanley really cared about Mimi, and told her that Bonnie would just have to come around because he didn't want to give up what he and Mimi had.
Stanley and Mimi grew closer and closer through all the trials and tribulations they had to go through together. Mimi began to find an inner strength she didn't know existed inside her that came out full force when her new "family" was threatened - such as when she saved Stanley and his friend Jake after a car crash left them injured and out in the cold. When the prospect of the country getting back up and running came about, Mimi told Stanley how happy she would be to finally leave Jericho. She said that he could come with her to New York, but he was not going to leave his home. Mimi came to the realization that she wouldn't be able to leave if he didn't come with her, and both finally let each other know exactly how they felt before Stanley left town on a mission to New Bern. The neighboring town needed Jericho's men to help them build some windmills, and Stanley was one of the "lucky" ones chosen. During his absence, Mimi began building a friendship with Bonnie, and the two finally came to terms with each other.
After protecting the town from New Bern's attacks and the military got Jericho back on its feet again, Stanley and Mimi began talking about the future together. While they had a minor squabble about who should be asking who to get married, they both realized that they wanted the same thing. Once Mimi fixed the deal that Stanley made with Jennings and Rall to get his farm back (he made a deal, but it was not fair to him at all), Stanley proposed to her.
While everything should have been looking up for the newly engaged couple, the darkest of days were lurking right around the corner. Mimi accepted an accounting job with Jennings and Rall, and right away, she noticed a discrepancy...a $10,000 discrepancy. John Goetz, a bad guy heading the Jericho division of Jennings and Rall, didn't want anyone to find out, so he took some of his men to the Richmond farm to get Mimi's ledger. Bonnie tried to stop them and protect Mimi, but she ended up being shot and killed. Mimi was also shot, but it was not a fatal wound. Stanley was devastated that his little sister was taken from him and Mimi hurt, and he ended up killing Goetz in cold blood. He wanted to turn himself in to the authorities, but his friends and Mimi wouldn't let him. Mimi was right by his side trying to pull him out of his depression, and while he still loved her, he was a changed man by his actions.

After Bonnie walked in on them sleeping together, Mimi began having second thoughts about her "relationship" with Stanley. She didn't want to end things, but thought it would be for the best. Stanley wasn't hearing any of it though.
Mimi: "Do you know how many second dates I've had in the last five years?"
Stanley: "I'm guessing not many."
Mimi: "And do you know why?"
Stanley: "Yeah, because you're obnoxious, demanding, and totally self absorbed."
Mimi: "Yeah. And you are sweet, simple...and bullheaded. You can't handle someone like me, this will never work."
Stanley: "Eh, that's what they said about Brangelina."
Mimi: "Are you seriously quoting Us magazine right now?"
Stanley: "What'd you think they'd call us? Stimily? Mimily... Stimi."
Mimi: (laughs) "You are such an idiot."
She starts to walk away, but Stanley pulls her back and kisses her.

When the "marines" came to Jericho with the promise of getting the town back on its feet, Mimi told Stanley about how happy she would be to leave and go to New York. He wasn't too excited over the prospect of losing her, and even though she said he could come with her, Stanley was still upset. By the end of the episode, Mimi came around and told Stanley she wouldn't be going anywhere without him.
Mimi: "You drive me so crazy. And you know that I can't stay here forever but...the truth is...I can't live without you either."
Stanley: "Really?"
Mimi: "Yes, really."

After many weeks without electricity, Jericho enlisted the help of a neighboring town called New Bern to build them some windmills for power. New Bern asked for ten of Jericho's men to help them build the windmills, and Stanley was one of those picked to go. Stanley and Mimi's goodbye scene got pretty much everything out in the open between them - in their typical adorable fashion.
Mimi: "Look, I just want to tell you something...and don't freak out, okay?"
Stanley: "I won't."
Mimi: "In this crazy world, we don't know what's gonna happen tomorrow, and I don't wanna leave anything unsaid, so I'm just gonna say it. Okay? So...here I go-"
Stanley: "I've loved you since the first day I saw you at Bailey's."
Mimi: "You said it...you said it first. No one's ever said it first to me before."
Stanley: "Well, I don't know what's gonna happen tomorrow, and...plus I can hold it over you for the rest of our lives."
they kiss.
Mimi: "I love you Stanley Richmond."
Stanley: "But I said it first."

When Jennings and Rall came in and got Jericho up and running again, Stanley was able to make a deal with them to get his tax debt washed away. With the future looking brighter than ever, Mimi jumped the gun and asked Stanley to marry her. While he did want to marry her, Stanley was quite taken aback by her forwardness and only later on that day did Mimi find out why.
Mimi: "I'm sorry I asked you to marry me."
Stanley: "No, look...I was gonna ask you!"
Mimi: "You were?"
Stanley: "I was, yes, I had it all planned out. I was gonna propose the way my father proposed to my mother."
Mimi: "How'd he do it?"
Stanley: "He asked her."
Mimi: "I'm sorry. I'm just a very goal oriented person, you know? I see that something needs to be done and I do it. You know it's just sometimes, I think that if I don't make things happen, then they won't because no one will want them as much as I do-"
She sees Stanley holding a diamond ring
Mimi: "What's that?"
Stanley: "It's my mother's wedding ring, now please be quiet. I've never loved anybody the way I love you, and I can't remember my life before you, and now I really don't think I could live without you. Listen, I'll do whatever it takes to make you happy I swear to god...so, will you marry me?"
She is crying and nodding
Stanley: "See now, now you can talk."
Mimi: "Yes, yes!"

In the very last episode of Jericho, after finally burying Bonnie, Stanley and Mimi shared this very intimate moment together. So many life shattering events had happened in such a short amount of time, and the two were finally able to breathe and contemplate their future together.
Mimi: "Stanley?"
Stanley: "What is it?"
Mimi: "I thought I lost you."
Stanley: "No way, you could never lose me."
Mimi: "When those soldiers were coming for you, all I could think was...he doesn't know what he means to me. He's going away forever and I haven't told him."
Stanley: "Well I'm here now."
Mimi: "You are everything to me. I want to...I want to walk down this hill and make a home with you. I want to make a life with you...through anything and everything, from this day forward for the rest of my life."
Stanley: "Wow...wow, that sounded a lot like a..."
Mimi: "It was."
Stanley: "Well what do I say?"
Mimi: "Just say I do."
Stanley: "I do...I do."
They kiss
