Sinbad, the extraordinary captain of the Nomad, Master of the Seven Seas, grew up an orphan raised by his older brother Doubar, and tutor, Dim-Dim.  He lost his best friend Lee to the sea when he was about eight years old and vowed to rule over it since that day.  At the start of the show, Sinbad had been lost at sea for two years, and received his mysterious rainbow bracelet on a strange island before returning home to Baghdad.  Upon arriving in his hometown, he reunited with his brother and gathered a crew to go on a mission to save the kidnapped Princess Adena. She had been taken by the evil sorcerer Turok and his daughter Rumina, for Turok wanted Rumina to become the bride of the prince so she could rule Baghdad.  Maeve's past was not revealed on the show, but according to a fan interview with the actress, Maeve was the daughter of a pig farmer who grew up with her younger brother, Dermott.  When Rumina was trying to steal the young men in their village, Maeve challenged her, and Rumina turned Dermott into a hawk to make Maeve suffer.  Maeve ran away from home with Dermott and met up with Dim-Dim, who decided to help her master her powers so that she could defeat Rumina and restore her brother.

Sinbad and Maeve met in the second episode, "Return of Sinbad part 2".  He was walking along on the Isle of Dawn looking for his Master Dim-Dim, when he was attacked by a hawk.  He suddenly found himself down on the ground with a beautiful woman brandishing a sword above him.  When he tried to thank her for helping him, she wouldn't let him get a word in.  She thought he was just a typical sailor who was going to try to take over the Isle.  He was eventually able to tell her that he just wanted to thank her for stopping the hawk, and she led him to Dim-Dim, who explained to Sinbad that he and Maeve had similar goals in life.  The pair didn't quite get along at first, but they slowly gained a mutual respect for each other over the course of the first journey.

Throughout the first season, Sinbad and Maeve grew closer with each episode.  Almost all Sinbad and Maeve fans' favorite episode is "The Village Vanishes" when they kissed after Sinbad saved the village from an evil power.  However, their sweet smiles and hugs meant just as much as their kiss to their fans.  In almost every episode, they smiled or flirted with each other at least once.  And with Maeve around, Sinbad didn't kiss every girl that he came across as it seemed he did in the second season when she was absent.

"Vengeance of Rumina" was the final full episode that the characters were in together. Maeve thought it was her chance to free Dermott, and Sinbad thought that it was his chance to end Rumina's tyranny.  They both knew that it could be the end, and they almost kissed, but Firouz unintentionally interrupted them.  In the end of the episode, after Maeve found that Rumina had still survived, she was clearly upset until Sinbad came and comforted her.  He told her that he would make sure that they'd defeat Rumina, or die trying.  They would have had plenty more scenes together if the second season hadn't gotten rid of Maeve completely.  The second season began with her falling off the ship, and although Sinbad dove in after to save her, it was of no use.  He spend the whole episode believing that she had died in the storm, and was finally told by Dim-Dim that she had been taken to his dimension to continue her studies for her own protection.  She was not really mentioned again until the last episode of season two.

Sinbad & Maeve's Future

Well, based on the second season, it didn't look like they were going to be finding Maeve anytime soon.  If we ignore the second season, then I imagine that after Sinbad and Maeve defeated Rumina, they would almost definitely become a couple.  Maeve and Sinbad had so much in common, and they made the perfect couple.  And even though they were not together in the second season, the final episode did make it clear that he hadn't forgotten about Maeve completely.  Whenever he did get around to finding her, maybe they would still have a chance.

Sinbad & Maeve Quotes

This quote takes place in "The Village Vanishes".  At this part, Sinbad had just brought the villagers back by destroying the Vorgon, thus ending his magical hold on the village.  Sinbad and Maeve kissed, and not too long after, a villager named Cassandra kissed him as thanks for saving them.

Maeve:  "She seemed... appreciative."

Sinbad: "I've had better kisses... and recently, I might add." (he looks at her)  "Well, it's good to see things back to normal, isn't it?  What's wrong?"

Maeve: (thinking about the kiss)  "Oh, I was just thinking about how nice it felt... when we thought we found Dim-Dim."

Sinbad:  "We will get that feeling again, Maeve.  And that's a promise."
