"Yellow" started off with Goh and Taki already established as partners in a drug snatching business.  They lived together as roommates and the owner of the Cafe Roost would secretly give them jobs where they would have to retrieve drugs, guns, and the like to turn over to the police.  Goh was very openly gay and although he originally told Taki that he was not his type, he found himself falling for him over the course of their friendship.  Taki was very firm in insisting that he was straight, but he usually let Goh get pretty far in his advances before putting a stop to them.  Although they were perfectly in sync as partners and made good use of their own skills for their jobs, they did not know anything about each others pasts.

Throughout the course of the manga, their skills and devotion to each other were constantly put to the test.  Goh's specialty was lock picking and Taki was a skilled fighter who was good with computers.  They both were very bright and able to figure out the clues that they ran across on their search for the drugs that they were to snatch.  And with every job they found themselves getting closer and closer to one another.  Goh was very surprised with himself that he fell for Taki, as he normally liked the smaller, cuter, 'pretty' boys like his ex-boyfriend and ex-partner, Kei.  Taki, on the other hand, swore that he was straight and found himself confused at not only his own growing feelings for his partner, but also if Goh's intentions were real.  He worried that Goh was only joking with his feelings and never forgot when Goh said that he wasn't his type when they first met.

The main story really picked up when Goh's ex-partner, Kei, came back looking for a job.  His reappearance caused Taki to admit to himself that he was jealous as Goh and Kei paired up on one of their jobs.  When Taki had a flashback about his past and Goh comforted him, he and Goh nearly ended up going all the way.  They more than likely would have if Taki hadn't come across a clue in one of his books on the floor that helped them crack the case they were working on.  Kei parted ways with the duo, but not before leaving them with a warning - to not sleep together or else.  The 'else' came in the third book, when Taki came face to face with his buried past, in the form of his two 'parents', Katsuro and Mizuki.

The people that raised Taki, Katsuro and Mizuki, were assassins that went by the name 'Sandfish'.  Taki did not want Goh to know was that he was involved in the death of a little girl years earlier, when he found out about his parents' line of work.  After the incident and nearly being sexually assaulted by a male Mizuki, Taki ran from them.  Sandfish had to go underground for a few years, but once they came back, a now female Mizuki wanted Taki and would stop at nothing to get him.  Goh, left in the dark on all of this, found himself having near death experiences until Taki had finally had enough.  He agreed to go with Mizuki as long as he wouldn't have to help them in their work and if they swore to leave the people he cared about alone.  The night before he left, Taki admitted to himself that he loved Goh and they spent the night together.  He also learned a little bit about Goh's past, as Goh mentioned that he grew up in a commune and was raised by several people who taught him the tricks of his trade.  Taki was comforted by the fact that they were both the same, being raised by different people, and told himself that he could go with Mizuki as long as he could have the memory of being with Goh.  He would do anything to keep the man he loved safe and would give up his freedom if he had to.  Taki left the next morning without telling Goh the truth about any of this.  When Goh noticed that Taki had left his earring (they each wore one of the same pair that doubled as a transmitter), he ran outside only to catch a glimpse of Taki leaving in a car.  He chased after it, calling for Taki, but was unable to do anything but watch him leave his life.

Goh was very hurt that Taki had left him, especially because he had not been told the whole story.  It wasn't until Katsuro came and spoke to Goh that he realized Taki had gone to save his life.  With the knowledge that he had one week before Sandfish was leaving Japan with Taki, the hunt was on.  Meanwhile, Taki was conspiring against Sandfish and sent Goh a clue about an assassination that they were planning.  When Goh figured out the message and the death was prevented, Katsuro and Mizuki were furious.  They moved their location and kept Taki in a makeshift cell as punishment for betraying them.  Everything seemed hopeless until Kei, who was working for Sandfish, took Goh's transmitter earring and gave it to Taki.  Goh finally found his lover and the two had a bittersweet reunion before they had an impromptu love making session right there in the room while Taki was still chained to the wall.  They made their escape and Goh told Taki that their future was together, whether they lived or died, and promised that when it was all over they would go on their honeymoon.  They fled to some of the people from Goh's past where they would be safe for awhile, and although they were running for their lives, they were content with being by each other's side.

Things nearly turned deadly as Taki was kidnapped by Tsunuga, the owner of the Cafe Roost, who was willing to hand him over once again to Sandfish in exchange for information about his family.  Tsunuga's wife and daughter were killed by Mizuki and Katsuro six years ago, and he wanted revenge.  Knowing that the girl from his past was Tsunuga's daughter, Taki grabbed the gun and pointed it at himself, ready to atone for his sin by killing himself.  Goh finally caught up to them and held a gun to himself, telling Taki that if he killed himself, that he would too because he didn't want to be left alone again.  When Taki finally put the gun down, Mizuki decided to finish the job, but had the gun shot out of her hands by Katsuro.  He'd had just about enough of the drama and presented Tsunuga's daughter, who he had located awhile back, to exchange for a chance to escape from the police.  The little girl had no memory of her first six years of life, but everyone, especially Tsunuga and Taki, were still overjoyed at the unexpected turn of events.  When Mizuki and Katsuro left, Goh asked Taki if he remembered what he had promised him, and Taki did.  The books ended with the two on their honeymoon, where they once again declared their love for one another and their desire to spend the rest of their lives by the other's side.

Goh & Taki's Future
With Taki's past put behind him and his emotional scars healing, he could have a very bright future ahead of him with Goh.  The books ended with the two of them on what they referred to as their honeymoon, and they both couldn't have been any more in love.  They both expressed their desire to spend forever with each other throughout the course of the manga, even if it was only in their own thoughts.  I just can't see them spending their futures any other way than with each other, and with all that they had been through, their relationship had already been put to the test many times. Yellow is continuing in the form of several shorter books, and it will be interesting to see how their relationship progresses as time goes on.
Goh & Taki Quotes

In the first book, Taki had been taken as a hostage by some criminals to get Goh to hand over the drugs that they wanted.  When Goh came over to make the trade, Taki protested, not wanting to be the cause of failure in their mission.

Taki: "Don't give that to them, Goh!!  If you do-"

Goh: "I won't listen.  'Cause you're my treasure."

On one of their more dangerous missions, Taki and Goh had both been shot, leading to Taki's realization that he loved Goh as more than a partner and friend.  After they snuck out of the hospital to finish their mission, Taki mused about something Goh had said and his feelings for the other man.

Taki [thinking]: "His first mentor was a 'magician' and his second was a 'stuntman'?  Is that true?  Maybe.  Even if it's a lie, I don't really care.  Because you're here right now."  [He leans down and kisses Goh]  "So long as this magic continues."

After realizing he had no choice but to go with Mizuki and Katsuro if he wanted Goh to remain safe, Taki left after spending the night with him.  As he was leaving the cafe, Taki's thoughts drifted to his lover and he knew he was making the only choice that he had.

Taki [thinking]: "Goh.  I will protect you.  No matter what happens.  I won't let anyone... kill you... ever.  I love you.  Even though I couldn't say it once.  From now on, no matter what...  You are my only man."

At the end of book four, Katsuro showed everyone Tsunuga's missing daughter, Mari, who Taki thought he had killed six years ago.  He couldn't believe his eyes and apologized to the young girl for what he had done.

Taki: "Thank you for living."

Goh: "Hey... That's my line!" [He hugs Taki from behind]

Taki: "What?" [Goh grabs him and pulls him away from the others] "Hey!  Goh!  Ow!"

Goh: "Well, I have you now.  And I'm never going to let go.  Is it all over now?  Do you remember what I told you?"

Taki: "Yes...  When we escape we'll have our honeymoon."
