"A man who will not return your unrequited love because he's a big knight and you're just a lowly squire, admiring him from afar, longing for his warm, passionate embr-" - Slash describing Hack

At the Renaissance Festival, this crime fighting duo known as K.A.R.L. consists of Sir Nigel Hack, a rich knight, and his "faithful" squire, Slash Montant.  Hack and Slash have three really funny shows.  The first one we saw was their "Cruel and Unusual" show, in which the finale has Slash lying on a bed of 1000 spikes and Hack breaks a cinder block on his chest.  In their "Comedy Crossbow" show, Hack's view of the world is a little off kilter due to the fact that he recently deflected a cannonball with his head.  Slash tries his hardest to make Hack look good through wooing women in the audience, a sword fight, and shooting an apple ala William Tell (though he did it already, and that would be redundant... redundant).  Their most popular show is their end of the day "Ale Extravaganza" which is, in their words, their tribute to sword fighting and beer.  Their annual Christmas special is a musical version of "The Christmas Carol", and many other acts from the Renaissance Festival join them in the production.

Hack and Slash were one of the first acts that we really became fans of.  They have a huge group of core fans and have really become one of the most popular shows at the faire.  The two of them have a great chemistry on stage and really play off of each other well with their improv.  While each show does have a script, no two shows are exactly the same.  A must see show!  Get thyself to the Jury Rig stage early to get a seat!
