We got both Saki and Noriko on October 29, 2006 because we only had Muffy left at that time and one pig was just not enough. Saki was a strange pig because while she was so small, she was disproportionate: her feet and ears were too big for her body. The way she walked was so funny to watch because of how big her feet were. She would stretch out her legs straight out behind her in the middle of her walk all the time. She still does that funny walk sometimes, but it doesn't look as funny because she is more proportional now. The last time we had young pigs in our house was about five years ago, so we had forgotten about all of their little quirks (the running, the popcorning, and the many different noises that ours grew out of). When she is calm though, Saki is so sweet because she purrs so much! We found her sweet spot right away on the car ride home from the pet store and she purred the entire way.
Saki loves to play chase the piggy when we want to get her out of her cage, since she likes to stay in there more often than not. She is like Hazel was in this regard, except she is a bit more outgoing. She picks on Noriko just as much as Noriko picks on her, so their living arrangement works out well. Saki taught herself how to stand on her hind legs and does it all the time now (maybe even more than Muffy did). Whenever we give them timothy hay, Noriko has a tendency to block the entire hay manger, so I started giving Saki a "special" fuzzy piece each time. Now she doesn't even try and get to the manger, she just stands up on her hind legs and waits for her special piece. It is so adorable! She is really smart and has cute little routines like that for all of her eating times. For example, she always waits for the second piece of romaine lettuce in the morning since she knows Noriko is going to take the first one. She doesn't even try for the first one, she just sits back and waits for the second!
Saki and Noriko both seem like the laziest pigs we ever had because they love to lay inside of the sleeping bags that our mom made for them. They snuggle right in and do not like to share (Noriko starts screaming if Saki goes into her bag, even though Saki isn't doing anything to her but sitting next to her). Saki is still as skittish as she was when we got her, but she does seem to be coming around a bit. She is much less timid around us nowadays, but new people still freak her out. She loves to run when she isn't resting in a bag, and she and Noriko have a lot of fun running laps around the cage together. We're very happy that they still get along and that they share their food well. Saki is a darling little pig who loves to purr, and we are very happy that we found her and Noriko to fill the void in our piggy family.
