For Halloween, Haruhi's class decides to hold a test of courage challenge, much to the disdain of their class president, who does not do well with scary things. Kaoru continues thinking about how afraid he is of the changes coming in the future, and how he doesn't want Hikaru to drift away from him. In the end, the entire class is scared by Nekozawa and all lose the challenge together.
