Last Exile is a one of a kind anime that will always be on our list of favorites.  Although it seems to be a sleeper hit of sorts, it has everything that we could ask for in a show and then some.  The voices were top notch, the storylines were intriguing, and it was just an extremely well done show.

What was Last Exile about?

Last Exile was about two young vanship pilots, Claus and Lavie, who got caught up in a war while they were delivering a message to an airship known as the Silvana.  The two friends found themselves in the middle of their most important mission ever, to protect a young girl named Alvis Hamilton.  The anime was about their struggles to keep Alvis safe while they realized their dreams, even though they found themselves drifting apart.  The storylines were very interesting and the characters were extremely well developed.

What was the best part about the show?

The best part about the show, aside from the outstanding voices, great characterization, wonderful storylines, terrific music, and pretty visuals, was just the overall feel of the show.  It just all worked together so well and seemed so classy compared to most other shows, and more mature than most anime's.  The ending was also one of the best parts, because it left us completely satisfied and even threw in a few wonderful surprises.

What was the worst part about the show?

We guess the worst part would be the scenes with Delphine, mostly because we just didn't care about her as a villain.

Where did the show go wrong?

It didn't.

What is our favorite/most memorable scene?

Dio's birthday party, Dio's taunting/flirting with Claus at every chance he got, when everyone was helping Claus get to the Grand Stream near the end of the show, when Mullin appeared at the end of the show with his family, the scenes with the mechanics goofing off, the flashbacks to a young Claus and Lavie with their dads, when Alvis was wandering around the Silvana, when Claus and Tatiana stranded in the desert, Vince and Alex's dinner, and all of the previews for upcoming episodes with the voiceovers of the characters.

Who are our favorite characters and why?

Dio, Claus, Alvis, and Lavie.  Dio was thoroughly entertaining and had a complex personality underneath his quirky exterior.  He was completely unique and added so much to the show.  Claus, Lavie, and Alvis created an adorable little family together, and it was sweet how they stuck together through the whole show.
